Build up your resistance with yeast
We are constantly exposed to bacteria and virus attacks. The largest organ in contact with the outside world, however, is not the skin (2 m2 surface area) but the intestines (500 m2 surface area). When we eat, not only valuable nutrients but also bacteria and fungi pass into the intestines. The greater part of our immune system is therefore centred in the intestines. In combination with a healthy intestinal flora, it protects us from the germs which make us ill.
This immune system can be made weaker or stronger. Whereas stress, foreign chemical agents, medication or the wrong foods weaken the immune system the prebiotics contained in food strengthen our immune system. Special yoghurt cultures to strengthen our immune system are well-known.
